PERSON STATS

  MCLEOD, Izale
Born In Birmingham On 15/10/1984  England
Joined On 29/09/2010 Player

Izale McLeod is a top class striker who should not be playing in League 2. This is pretty much a fact. He did enough to progress in the past too, his exploits and MK Dons in this division saw him join then Championship outfit Charlton Athletic for a fee in excess of £1 million. However, the cruellest of luck with injuries and limited first team opportunity saw Izales dream move turn into something of a nightmare.

Following a number of largely unsuccessful loan stints away from the Valley, he was finally released in the summer of 2010, still nowhere near full fitness with a knee that needed a lot of surgery to get him back playing again.

His knight in shining armour turned out to be Tony Kleanthous. McLeod agreed a deal with Barnet at the end of September 2010 and we sent him off for all the necessary medical work required. He was fit enough to be considered for first team football from late November and has been a fixture in the Bees side since.

On his day, Izale is one of the best strikers I think many of us have seen in a Barnet shirt. Hes clever, quick, powerful and certainly knows where the goal is. This Izale, we love. When Mr McLeod doesnt seem so keen though, he can be incredibly frustrating and his attitude and application has been called into question a number of times.

Hes certainly winning the Barnet faithful over now, though. After all, it was his penalty against Port Vale that proved to be the goal that kept Barnet in the league. The new season has seen Izale make a very positive start, including one particularly electrifying performance at home to Gillingham, where he bagged a brace.

Hes a class act. If he stays fit and keeps scoring, he wont be a Barnet player too long, sadly.
