PERSON STATS

  NAISBITT, Danny
Born In Bishop Auckland On 21/11/1978  England
Player

Goalkeeper from the North East who ended up at Barnet in the summer of 1999 after being released by Walsall.

Danny spent four years at Barnet; some would say they were turbulent, if nothing else they were pretty up and down. On his day, Danny was a decent enough goalkeeper and did have some good games for the Bees, but he was also partial to the odd clanger. His kicking was famously bad; a Danny Naisbitt goal kick generally meant a throw in for the opposition, just inside their half.

It all kicked off at Underhill shortly after Danny left in late 2003. He signed for Dagenham & Redbridge and made his Barnet return in January 2004 with his new club. Daggers ran out 4-2 winners in a bad tempered match at Underhill. To the disbelief of most of Underhill, Naisbitt saved a first half penalty from Ian Hendon, but the real fun didnt occur until late on. During a scramble in the box, Naisbitt threw himself theatrically onto the floor, getting Chris Plummer sent off in the process. He really played up and then went off celebrating like Dagenham had won the cup at full time. Yet three days later, Danny showed his other side by turning up to watch Cheshunt v Barnet in the Herts Cup, to see how his mate and former understudy Ricky Millard was getting on. He chatted to Barnet fans that night and apologised for some of his behaviour the previous Saturday.

In March 2004, Danny actually re-signed for Barnet, on non-contract terms, but never so much as made another appearance as an unused sub, before moving on. For a few years Danny became something of a non-league journeyman. Harlow Town, Cambridge City, Lewes, AFC Wimbledon and then Cambridge City again were all added to his CV, before signing for Histon in 2007. Hes established himself well at Histon and earned much praise for his fantastic performance in their cup scalp against Leeds in November 2008, where he kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 win.
