PERSON STATS

  PURSER, Wayne
Born In Basildon On 13/04/1980  England
Player

SHOOT. SCORE!

And he did fairly often, at least during the first season in the Conference anyway. Signed by John Still in the summer of 2000 after QPR let him go, Wayne came off the bench to grab a debut goal in the 3-0 home win against Shrewsbury on the opening day of the 2000-01 campaign. He wasnt a regular starter that year, but chipped in with a few goals, including one in the cruel defeat at Blackpool in the penultimate game.

In the Conference Wayne really established himself with the Bees, winning the player of the year award for 2001/02, a season where he scored the second fastest FA Cup hat trick of all time in the 4th Qualifying Round against Havant & Waterlooville at Underhill. However, his season ended in rather unfortunate circumstances, a week earlier, when he suffered a horrible leg break.

He was back for the 2002/03 season and formed a decent early season partnership with Junior Agogo, although was still hit by the odd injury niggle. He ended his time with Barnet on transfer deadline day in March 2003, leaving for Leyton Orient along with Lee Harrison and Greg Heald, he then went onto bang in a hat trick on his Os debut that Saturday. After Orient, he had spells with Peterborough, Hornchurch, Weymouth, Cambridge United and most recently, Wivenhoe Town.

A little known fact, his middle name is Montague. Brilliant.
