More On Chesterfield

"Ooh this is a toughie isn't it. Even though we tend to do alright at Saltergate, this has home win written all over it with their formidable home record and our iffy away form. It would be just like Barnet to pull something out of the bag though, and at least with this team their is a touch of realism about that prospect, as opposed to reckless optimism previously.
Even a half decent away record would propel Chesterfield into the higher echelons of League Two, however thanks to a real breakdown as soon as they step out of Derbyshire they sit outside of the playoffs. We could well be exchanging places by 5pm Saturday. Then again we could go third if results fall nicely.
It's our last ever trip to Saltergate as the Spireites move onto a new flatpack, fresh out of the box stadium. Such is life nowadays. It's a great old ground, a real taste of what things used to be like, with little renovation work done to it over the last few years. The wooden benches in the stand were uncomfortable yes, and the paint still flakes from the back of it but this antiquated old football ground will be missed no doubt, just like Shrewsbury's Gay Meadow, for example.
Back to the game itself, Ian Hendon has a few welcome selection headaches ahead of this one. Who does he start up front? And it's not down to a lack of goals or form either, thankfully. We've got three strikers scoring goals, but which two (or one) do you start with? That sort of headache has been missing for a while, in fact I can barely remember such a problem. Unchartered territory this is, just like our league position.
As for us, it's another weekend in Nottingham so at some point next week you'll be reading more stories of general drunken silliness on our part. Chesterfield is famous for being the best away trip of all time (find it in Away Days) and although it won't reach that level again, ever again, it'll still be a good day out for us, pending the night before not being too heavy!
Let's hope to see a good turnout up there. Although I understand people would be put off by four years of nothingness away from home, it'd be could to see the numbers boosted by this team's form. We should be taking more away from home, and if you do go you can tick it off on the new Games Attended feature. What better incentive can you think of than that?? Be honest now.
A big ask, but let's sneak a win, y'know just for a laugh!"
